What I'm all about

Katie Blair Designs was formed in the belief that, even in today's lightning-fast digital world, there's value in receiving a note with the handwriting of someone you love, in recording your ideas and daydreams on paper, in baking from a cherished recipe on a crumpled piece of paper passed down by a family member. There's also value in creative works, in well-crafted products, and in items made by hand.

Every product from Katie Blair Designs features original designs. My illustrations are printed by hand, using traditional screenprinting methods that take ideas from sketches on paper to detailed illustrations to stencils stretched across wood-and-cloth screens. Each product is completely hand-crafted, and I take care that everything I make is high quality.

Behind the designs

The products at Katie Blair Designs are created by me, Kate Carpenter, a designer based in Omaha, Nebraska. I earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, with an emphasis in magazine design and editing. I worked as a newspaper and magazine designer before opting to spend all my time as an independent graphic designer and to pour my creative energy into Katie Blair Designs. Doing what I can

I am constantly striving to decrease my environmental impact. To that end, I use at least 30% recycled paper in all my products, and much of my paper — and all of my envelopes — are 100% recycled. I purchase my paper supplies from a company that uses wind power, and I try to minimize packaging whenever possible. For screenprinting, I use non-toxic, water-based inks, and I re-use inks and supplies as much as possible.
